The profound significance of making I-statements
I imagine the first impression of someone reading this would be "What the heck does that mean... What's an I-statement?"—and understandably so.
The extent to which people in my cultural environment (the English speaking ones) talk in second person when discussing personal experience is almost 100% of what I hear. Hence it has become completely normal. So normal that some people I have met either resist the idea of changing this habit and/or find it really challenging to change it once they notice what's going on.

I think I can safely say that you are well aware that massive amounts of virgin forest and jungle are cleared every day so that huge heartless multinational corporations can do inane things like making short-term pastures for cattle destined for McDonald’s burgers; growing Palm tress for palm oil which is added to food and these days even used to make "ecologically sensible" bio-fuel; and for many other short-sighted, senseless, and unsustainable purposes. I know a lot of people who are "spiritually" and/or ecologically inclined have a real resistance, even a disdain, of ecologically destructive activities such as these. Clear felling of jungles and virgin forests is, for many of us, right up there on the list of "Things that are sadly destroying life on Earth" along side other issues like the non-stop dumping of industrial and pharmaceutical waste into water ways, the privatisation of global water resources, and the huge (I mean MASSIVE) swirling island of plastics which covers a large proportion of the Pacific Ocean.
This article is about none of these issues, and yet the issue we are about to explore is very closely (in fact, intimately) related to those mentioned above, in terms of the level of thinking that sets these issues into motion within the collective human unconscious. This article is about something just as important, and yet far closer to home than you might be anticipating. What we are about it explore is of global proportions and yet it's something that every man and woman can change immediately, and effortlessly, without doing anything at all.

Since childhood I have had the memory (or "a vision of the future", if that's easier to understand) of people living in relatively small intentional communities. I say small relative to the large cities which have become increasingly the normal way of life in the past few hundred years. We might be looking at anything from a few hundred people through to perhaps 50,000 people. I know that the late mystic referred to as OSHO said that research indicated that 50,000 people was about the limitfor a comminity whereby all the benefits of a large number of people coming togather would be experienced AND people would still have conscious connection to and awareness of one another. I think Sri Aurobindo may have come to a similar number in his vision of spiritual community, but I'd have to look into it to be certain. My vision from childhood was of communities much smaller than 50,000, yet these smaller communities would then be sub-communities of a larger collective. That larger collective may well grow to the order of 50,000 people, or so.

This article was written somewhat spontaneously in the form of an email to a friend. This friend was dealing with the fact that someone close to him (a brother) had appeared to have been deceptive with him about certain intentions that he had. This friend was somewhat takenaback about this. We were exploring the issue by email. The following is something I have been asked by numerous people in my workshops, etc., to please put into writing. So here it is. Enjoy.
I have modified and added to it were appropriate so that it will make more sense outside of the context in which I originally wrote it.

Are you aware of the profound effects what you eat has on your brain function?
Did you know that nutrition can control which genes are expressed (which ones are "on" or "off")... starting from the mother whilst pregnant (and in fact, for two months prior to conception).
Here's an important video. It's about 48 minutes long, and well worth watching, so sit back and enjoy when you have an hour to spare. Please do.
